iPhone Car Accessory Review: CarTrip for iPhone by Griffin

Apple and their products have somewhat revolutionized the way we go about our daily lives. Their slogan “there is an App for that” clearly identifies their consumer friendly business model. Recently a popular accessory maker for iDevices, Griffin Technology has launched its latest automobile accessory for the complete range of iDevices. This latest innovative accessory is named as CarTrip automotive accessory for iPhone.

The accessory combined with a dedicated app is basically a Bluetooth monitor that simply plugs into an automobile’s OBD-II connector or the port. This allows a seamless reporting and also the recording of multitude of data from the on-board computer in the car. When used alongwith its compatible Clean Drive App, user will be able to monitor the overall performance of the car including different kind of metrics like acceleration, top speed and fuel consumption. Moreover, using this accessory, user can also see the various kinds of diagnostic codes that are being sent by the on-board computer of the car. Using these codes, user can troubleshoot various kinds of problems for the indicator lights.

Other features that are housed include a SD-Slot for storing additional data, plus there is a ‘Carbon Score’ display within the app that provides drivers an easy to understand readout telling them their driving habits.

CarTrip accessory for iPhone will be obtainable for a price tag of $90 and will be out in market in the first quarter of 2011. Its companion app CleanDrive for iPhone will be available for download from the Apple App store in Q1 as well.
