How to Unlock Your iPhone 2G

Unlocking or jailbreaking the iPhone has been an issue in discussion, ever since the iPhone was released. Although, the factory installed versions of the iPhone 2G have certainly got all the features of the software but still unlocking or jailbreaking the iPhone 2G gives us certain benefits that your factory installed OS cannot provide.

The first thing unlocking provides is that you can modify the look and feel of the OS. Secondly, you can install some very good applications that are not available with the factory installed version. Finally, the modified version allows us to perform multitasking which is a missing feature in the iPhone 2G. It also provides you with the freedom of using the iPhone with any other mobile Phone career in the world.

First of all, make sure you have the following tool needed for the jailbreak.

iPhone 2G
iTunes
QuickPwn-225-2.zip
BL 3.9 (Bootloader v3.9)
BL 4.6 (Bootloader v4.6)
iPhone 2G Firmware 2.2.1 (iPhone1,1_2.2.1_5H11_Restore.ipsw)

So, we start off the process by downloading the iTunes and putting all the files into a new folder named quickpwn. We can get all the files by extracting the quickpwn zip file.

Next step is to restore your iPhone. We will use iTunes to restore our Phone by selecting the device and holding the shift button and then hitting the restore button. After hitting restore locate the restore.ipsw file which we had downloaded before. After you have successfully guided the file, the software will start restoring your iPhone. In between you will get a warning message of not recognized SIM card.

Now, you will need to jailbreak your iPhone 2G by using Quickpwn. Just press enter after locating the quickpwn file and the software will begin the jailbreak; make sure your iPhone is connected. Next, you will need to find the iPhone firmware and then choose options of unlocking. After which you can select the two bootloader versions already downloaded before. Once the verification of the files is complete, you will be given a go ahead. Finally, your iPhone will go into recovery mode under which you need to do the following.

Hold the Home button for 5 seconds.
Hold the Home and Power buttons for 10 seconds. (Don’t let go Home)
Release the Power button and continue holding the Home button. Hold it until your iPhone goes into DFU mode.

After detecting DFU mode, Quickpwn will begin the jailbreaking process, and will inform you when the process is completed.
