Apple Looking into Creating an Ad Supported iOS

Apple is taking a lead from ad revenue search engine giant Google’s book, as it is planning to start development on an ad reliant or ad supporting operating system.

Apple chief Steve Jobs hinted at the creation of an ad supported Operating System that would be offered to users at a reduced or no price. Instead users will be asked to watch advertisements as the ad revenues will be used to fund the project and any further development.

Apple’s model is fairly simple and may be annoying for some users. Every user on the new OS would be asked to watch the advertisement. During this time the other elements of the operating system would be blocked for some time. After the ad is finished the user can resume the work. This idea is pretty similar to advertisements which Google uses to find it projects and products.

The timings of the ad would be predetermined with a timer that has been previously installed on the system. The applications responsible for carrying out advertisements would be available in a text or visual form. Most probably, it would in a visual as this would provide some sort of entertainment to the end users. A system like this is ideal for computers to be used at public places, and it could be used to fund projects that can be used for the public good. The whole application is similar to small videos shown on websites like youtube.com where an ad is placed right before the start of the video.

In order to make the ad non intrusive, the users can disable and enable the ad and choose its timing of display. The publishing of a blue print like this is important at this moment since Apple has come up with the iAD advertisement platform which Apple claims would change the internet ad market.
