Apple begins the Bumper Case program but delays the White iPhone further

As promised in the press conference, Apple has launched the free Apple bumper case program that would help solve the signal attenuation problem that has been getting the bad press for new Apple device. Apple has set up a special website dedicated for informing the customers about the signal problem and also how they can order their free iPhone 4 Case. Apple is promoting the page through its App store too and has released a new App for this purpose.

The ordering of the cases works like this.

  • Customers who purchased their iPhone 4 before 23rd July would need to apply for this case till the deadline of August 22nd.
  • Other customers are being given a 30 day period of ordering, starting from their date of purchase.
  • The program will expire on September 30th.
  • Download the App, enter your Apple ID and select either bumper from Apple or from other third party vendors.
  • The cases would be delivered to the customers within 3 to 5 weeks after the date of order.

Meanwhile folks who have already bought the bumpers would be eligible for a refund depending on their scenarios. If bumpers were bought from Apple, the refunds are already on the way, while for third party vendors customers would need to show receipts to get the refunds. Things would certainly seem to settle down now as the bumper program gets into motion and we can clearly see the problem being almost forgotten by the end of September. This would certainly be a victory for Apple as PR team has seemed to handle the situation very well and have earned praises from industry insiders.

Finally, Apple has announced that the white iPhone will be delayed even further and now it won’t be available till the end of this year.

"White models of Apple's new iPhone 4 have continued to be more challenging to manufacture than we originally expected, and as a result they will not be available until later this year," the company said in a statement.
